19th Century Cossack Wool Bashlik

My late grandfather was a Cossack, so I made this bashlik, a garment traditionally worn by the Cossacks, in honour of his memory and our ethnic minority heritage. The bashlik is a hood, scarf, and sometimes cape in one, and it’s an especially convenient winter accessory to stay warm.

The one I made is completely hand sewn and constructed with a thick winter tartan wool, lined with a flowy Japanese silk.
